Buggy corn

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

I bought a bag of corn from the feed store to use to sew into micro-wavable heating pads.  I brought it home and opened it up to fill the bags I had sewn, and I was totally grossed out because it was full of bugs!  I ended up scattering the corn in the back yard for the deer to enjoy.  Now I don’t know where I can go to buy the corn, they don’t sell it at the health food stores anymore!

Keeping the house cool in the summer

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

I am going to be pricing out buying a whole house attic fan.  I have several friends that have them, and they swear that it helps to keep the house cooler in the summer and reduces their energy costs.  I’m all for keeping the house cooler in the summer!  I get very uncomfortable when the thermometer goes above 80 degrees, which is pretty much all of June, July, August, and most of September!  And I HATE how high the electric bill get from running the air conditioner all summer long!

New restaurant in town

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Tonight we are going to go to the new Ruby Tuesday that just opened last week.  I’ve never eaten at a Ruby Tuesday before, I heard that it is a good restaurant.  I sure do hope so, there are so few good restaurants around here!  I’ve looked at their menu over the Internet, and I think I will order their ribs.  I love barbecued ribs!  I don’t usually cook them at home, so I like to have them when I eat out.  The only drawback is that it is hard to eat ribs “politely” with a fork and knife, so I go “rudely” and pick them up and eat them with my hands.  I hope they have those “wet wipes” available to clean my hands after I eat!

How do YOU drive?

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Several times recently I have been driving somewhere with a friend, or family member, and been in an “almost” accident where someone almost backed up into my car.  My instinctive reaction was to swerve safely out of the way.  Both times my rider scolded me, saying “you should have just honked your horn”  My reaction and reply was “I was too busy avoiding getting hit to blow the horn.”  I really don’t feel that I can safely honk AND swerve at the same time, I am too busy using both hands to steer!  (I don’t have an issue with honking AFTER I’ve avoided the accident.)

I feel that it is better to use both hands to safely maneuver away from the other car thereby avoiding getting into an accident than to simply honk the horn.  I’d be curious to hear from anybody out there that might be reading this what YOU would do; honk or swerve?
