Weight loss

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I have seen so many people worried about their weight that have no reason to be worried about their weight! Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of obese people out in the general population that SHOULD be worried about their weight, but there has been so much “hype” about how people should be toothpick skinny that it really worries me. I see young girls, just barely in their teens, wearing size 2 clothes complaining to their parents that they are too fat!

The diet pill market is booming. Colon cleansing is a huge fad that I think is absolutely crazy! People want to eat their junk food, not exercise, and just pop a pill to “make it all better.” Well, I like junk food too, and I hate to exercise, but I’m not popping pills to lose weight. I’m eating junk food in moderation, going to dance classes (which I tell my self is NOT exercise!) and drinking lots of water.

My sister-in-law tells me that she has found a great diet pill called Leptitrex that she loves. She says that it curbs her appetite and gives her lots of energy. She says that it is helping her to lose weight. I went to the website she told me about to check it out and was impressed with the list of ingredients until I saw that it contains caffeine. My doctor has told me to avoid anything with caffeine in it because caffeine is bad for my own personal health, so I’m not planning to order any of that particular product. But I have to admit that the product sounds like it would do the trick and help most people lose weight.

I love cookbooks

Monday, April 6th, 2009

So many women love to read romance novels.  It fulfills a fantasy for them about their love life.  I love to read cookbooks.  I like to fantasize about what the food would taste like, and wouldn’t it be great if my family would eat it!  I love to cook, but my family is full of fussy eaters.  There are only a handful of things that everyone in my family likes to eat.  So that drastically reduces the selection of menu items that I can prepare that everyone will enjoy.  With money being as tight as it is, I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen cooking something that ends up having so many leftovers that the leftovers don’t get eaten up.  At least my family WILL eat leftovers if it is food they like in the first place.  I’ve heard many of my friends lament that their family refuses to eat leftovers no matter how much they liked the original meal!

Making your own karaoke music

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Oftentimes, when I go shopping I see machines for sale that are “home use karaoke” machines.  I’ve looked at them and thought about how much fun they would be at parties.  I have a very large musical family that would really enjoy doing something like that at a home party.  I might even be tempted to get up and sing in front of my family.  After all, they already know how badly I sing, and if they are willing to encourage me sing in front of them anyway, well, I could do that!  As I mentioned previously, I’d be embarrassed to “perform” karaoke in a public setting because my singing voice is bad.  (Although I’ve often thought about taking voice lessons to improve it!)

When I’ve looked at those machines at the store I see that they come with a certain amount of karaoke music and I’ve thought about how sad it was to be limited to only those songs.  And I’ve wondered about how one could go about making your own karaoke music.  Well, I’ve just discovered that there is a software program on the market that enables the consumer to strip the vocals out of music so that the consumer can make their own karaoke music!  How cool is that!  And the software is very reasonably priced too.  I’m very tempted to buy it and give it a try!

Have you tried Karaoke?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I’ve never tried karaoke myself.  Only once have I been to a nightclub where karaoke was being “performed.”  A lady from the audience was on the stage singing a song (I can’t even remember what the song was) and she was singing off-key.  She was pretty enough, but she was singing off-key.  She was having fun, though, and I’m sure that was the whole point.  She was with a group of friends that apparently had encouraged her to go up there and sing.  They were having fun, too.  As for me, I sat there and wondered about how I would feel if I were up there on the stage.  I’m a fairly shy person, and I’ve been told by many people that my singing voice is terrible, so I’d be inclined to NOT go up there.  I’d embarass myself, and I don’t like being embarrassed.  I wish that I was not so easily embarrassed, though, because it looked like she was having a lot of fun, even though she was singing off-key!
