I’ve always been a big fan of storage beds

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I’ve always felt that the space under our beds is a big waste of space, and a big dust collector.  It is so difficult to keep that area dust free!  And keeping dust to a minimum is a good thing – so many people are allergic to dust!  And it certainly is one of our cat’s favorite hiding spots when we are looking for him to take him to the vet!  Have you ever tried to retrieve a cat from under a king size bed?  It is really hard!  I’d love to replace our traditional bed with a great storage bed.

I didn’t realize that there were so many different types of storage beds until I was looking at the different types on the time4sleep.co.uk website.  I had only known of the kind I’ve been calling “Captains beds” where the beds have a series of drawers under the mattress.  But now I see that there are also “ottoman” beds where the entire mattress lifts up on a hinge to get to the storage area underneath!  That would be a way to store really large items!

I still think I like the kind with drawer’s underneath the best; I think that lifting the bed up would be a pain in the neck.  And it looks like the “ottoman” beds still have space under them for the dust to collect, whereas the ones with drawers fit right on the floor – no dust can get under them!

Going to a flea market

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Later on this morning my hubby and I are going to hop in his truck and head down to a large indoor flea market that is about an hour’s drive from where we live.  He’s been wanting me to go to the flea market with him for the past several months, and I just have not had the time to go with him.  He’s been starting to feel like I’m avoiding going with him!  So this morning when I got up I found him out in the garage, tinkering with his truck.  I asked him if he still wanted to go to the flea market and he said that he did.  So I said I’d go with him when he was ready to go!

So now he’s finished tinkering with his truck, and is in the shower.  I guess we’ll be heading out in a few minutes!  I’m curious to see what bargains can be had at the flea market!

Starting a new website

A few days ago my son told me that he’d like to have his own blog.  He wants to become a professional writer, and he thinks that writing on a blog would be a good writing exercise.  He’s never had a blog before, and he has been watching me from time to time write things on my blog.  He’s been asking lots of questions about how WordPress works and asked me to give him a tutorial on it.  Well, I haven’t done that quite yet, but it is so easy to use I’m sure that won’t be hard to teach him!  It is very intuitive!

I told him that the first step towards his own blog is to buy a domain name and set it up with a webhosting server.  I suggested that we use the rating website at webhostingrating.com to see which webhosting service they rate as the best one.  They rate and rank the top ten web hosting services.  Their site is easy to understand and use.

They have a good article about avoiding webhosting mistakes that I think is good advice to consider when picking out a service.  Their blog actually has a lot of good information on it that would help any novice to become better informed about web hosting in general.
