Overeducated
I’ve been looking for a new job for the past two years, and I have to say that I am frustrated. Every place that I apply to tells me that I am “over educated” for the job. I suspect that is plain and simple ageism in disguise. There really is no way to prove it, however, so I am just trying to figure out how to land the job without having to “dumb down.” I don’t want to lie on my employment applications and say that I only have a high school diploma when the truth is that I have a college degree! And I’ve taken other courses to be “certified” in a few other employment areas as well. Very frustrating, and it concerns me deeply when I keep hearing that women are being encouraged to go back to school. I don’t see how that is going to help them very much! They’ll be over educated too!
