Sweet tooth

As much as I love sweet treats, it’s a miracle that I have any teeth left!  Candy has always been a big part of my life.  I can remember when I was a kid my two sisters and I would walk the eight blocks to the corner Rexall Drug store and  buying Bazooka Bubble Gum and comic books every week after we got our allowances.  We loved to read the comics that were included in them and see what Bazooka Joe was up to!

And I remember as an experiment one day our mother tied a string around a nail and put it in a glass with sugar water and put it in the window.  Within a few days we had grown our very own Rock Candy!  I can’t remember if she put anything in the glass besides sugar and water.  The candy grew on the string.  It was totally awesome to see it grow!

I really can’t remember as a kid having so many different flavors and textures of candy available to buy!  I don’t know if we were simply sheltered, or if the candy development has progressed, but it is always a fascination to me when someone offers me a taste of a candy they are eating and I get the wonderful taste of watermelon or pina colada!
