I have a sweet tooth

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

I was born with a sweet tooth! If I didn’t take good care of my teeth, they would probably rotted out a long time ago! And if I didn’t have a really high metabolism as a child I’d probably weight a whole lot more than I do! As a kid I sure kept the company that makes Bazooka Bubble Gum in business! My parents should have bought stock in that company!

Now that I’m a little older, I love Snickers and O’Henry bars – they make great snacks that help to curb my appetite for hours. I’m real careful though, to not eat them very often now that I’m older and my metabolism has slowed down! When I was younger, though, if I could have bought Wholesale Candy and make sure that my family didn’t eat too much of it at one time (like kids on Halloween night!) I would not have hesitated!

In these tough economic times, little luxuries like ice cream and candy seem to be in high demand. Since people have a harder time paying for the larger luxuries, they buy more of the smaller treats to make themselves feel better. Extra treats like inexpensive Wedding Candy can make a wedding reception special without putting a strain on the couple’s wedding budget!

Not going to make much money that way!

This morning I heard on the television news that Starbucks was having a promotion today where anyone who comes into their stores before 10:30 am and bought any drink would recieve a free pastry.  Well, as it would happen, I was in the area of a Starbucks this morning at around 9am, so I decided to swing in and check it out.  I ordered a strawberries and cream frappacino and got a berry coffeecake slice.  The total was $3.86, so I gave the cashier $4.00.

The cashier handed me my receipt, and $4.16 change, and looked past me to the customer behind me and said “Thank you, who’s next?”   I stood there for a second, pondering the situation, and then said “Excuse me, I’m confused.”  The cashier looked at me with an expression of annoyance on his face and said “what is it?”  I told him that I think he gave me the incorrect change.  He got flustered and said he was SURE that he had given me the right change.

I held out both of my hands and told him that the charge was for $3.86 and I had given him $4.00.  He said, “that’s right.”  Then I asked him then “why did you give me $4.16 change?”  And he got defensive and said “that’s because you…”  And I interrupted him and said “me nothing, you gave me the wrong change, I owe you $4!”  He just stared at me, while I tried to hand him back the $4.00.  Finally I said “take the $4 and put it in your cash register, and we’ll be even.”  Sheepishly he took the $4 and opened his cash register.  He didn’t even have the courtesy to apologize or thank me!  I know I did the right thing, but he really should have at least thanked me!
