Tried a new variety of Steak and Cheese

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The other day I tried to find some Hot Pockets Philly style steak and cheese at the grocery store, but they were all out. So I ended up buying the Lean Cuisine Panini Philly Steak and Cheese instead. I tucked it into the freezer, and there it sat. Tonight was the night I decided to try it out. I cooked it and shared it with my son. Our verdict – buy it again! It was good!  I’m afraid that the peppers and onions will give me heartburn, but I have Rolaids ready to spring into action if needed!

Entering the stock market

Friday, July 24th, 2009

It wasn’t very long ago (alright, maybe it WAS long ago) that I was taking courses in college where we were learning about how less than 2% of the American people own stock!  I was amazed to learn that – I thought everyone owned at least a little bit of stock.  But apparently, the majority of the Americans are too poor to have any money to invest in Stock Trading.

I think that’s very sad.  I’m hoping that the advances being made in the access to buying stocks through Online Trading and getting an Online Broker just might help to change that type of situation.  These online services are making it less expensive to enter into the process of buying stock.  One of the advantages to using an online service like this is that you don’t feel the same kind of pressure you would feel from a face-to-face broker.  I can remember before the Internet was even invented that when I wanted to buy some stock in Disney that the broker made me feel like a total idiot!  Well, I bought stock anyway, and it has done well over the years.  So don’t feel intimidated, if you have a few dollars to invest, go ahead and do it!

While looking for that video to share

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I went onto youtube to try to find that video about the dancing wedding procession, and couldn’t find it. But while I was looking for it I found another wonderful video I’d like to share. It’s a Disneyland proposal where the man got the cast involved in choreographing the proposal. It certainly looks like it was a surprise proposal, and it went wonderfully! That is a magical proposal that they will remember forever! Good for them! I hope you watch and enjoy this as much as I did!

Math is for girls too

Friday, July 24th, 2009

One of the childhood memories I wish I could forget is the nasty and Functions and Calculus teacher that I had in high school.  He hated girls, and he made no bones about it at all.  I had gone through all of the math courses that I needed in order to take his courses,   I had gotten “A”s in all of them, so I knew that I could do the work.

The first day of class he announced that he felt that girls should not be in his class; that they were taking up the seats that boys should be in.  He declared that he would flunk any and every girl in his class.  He would not bother to check their tests or homework, he would automatically put an “F” on everything.  Every girl except me dropped out immediately.  I decided I would stick it out – after all, I was good in math!

True to his word, he tried to flunk me out.  He gave me “F”s on everything, even when my answers were the same as all of the other guys.  When I went to the school counselor to complain, they said that he told them that I was weak in my algebra and told them to put me back into an algebra class.  I had already HAD three years of algebra and gotten straight “A”s in them all!  I knew that I did not need any algebra help.  Even going to the principal of the school was no good – he suggested that I drop the class and get some algebra tutoring!  For crying out loud, I had been tutoring others in algebra!

I know that this scenario is very unlikely to occur in this day and age.  I often find myself wishing that I could find that creep and show him how I went on to college and took every math course the college had to offer and got straight “A”s in all of them!

Kids today are so lucky – they are not faced with kind of discrimination anymore, and if they find that they DO need help, it is easy to get both algebra 1 and algebra 2 help over the Internet with a free online algebra tutor.

New Wedding Dance
New Wedding Dance
I was just finishing reading my emails and when I signed out the web page that showed up had this video on it. Out of curiosity I clicked on it and saw a fabulous wedding march! I couldn’t figure out a way to embed it in my blog so that you could just click play, but if you click the picture you can see the video. It’s fantastic!
