Cleaning the costume closet

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

I decided that this weekend would be a good time to clean out the costume closet. By that I mean the closet in the spare bedroom. It’s starting to get pretty full and I want to keep a little bit of space in there for guests to use! It’s unbelievable how many things have found their way in there! I’m such a packrat! I found all kinds of things, like St Patrick Day Beads, masks, hats, gloves, and party favors.

Sometimes I think it is way too easy to find costume and party supplies now that I’ve learned about shopping on the Internet! No longer do I have to walk from store to store – one stop shopping is easy at sites like the toomeys-mardigras.com website!

Breakfast for supper tonight

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

My family has been complaining that they haven’t had a “good home-cooked breakfast” in months now. Well, if they would get up before noon, maybe I’d cook them a good breakfast! So I decided that I would cook breakfast for supper tonight so that they’d stop complaining about it! After all I had two dozen eggs and a pound of bacon in the refrigerator just begging to be cooked! So I cooked up some bacon in the microwave (it cooks perfectly in the microwave) and some french toast. Served with 100% genuine maple syrup! It was so good I had four slices of french toast myself!

Safe and secure

Home Security is becoming a big issue in today’s society.  It seems that you can’t even turn on the television news and not hear about how some body’s home was robbed.  Many of the stories are even sadder when they report that there were people inside that were injured or killed.  One thing is for sure, the people that are in the Home Security Surveillance System business are going to be having a lot of customers!

I think that having the Best Home Security Surveillance System is going to be very important when picking out a security system.  The customer needs to make sure that the system won’t just make a lot of noise, but will also alert the police and the homeowner if the house is entered without the proper authority.  I don’t know, maybe there should also be flashing lights and along with the loud noise a voice recording stating something along the lines of “the police have been called” would be a good idea.  And it should be battery operated so that if there is no electric power to the house the system will still work.  What do you think?

Tried a new variety of Steak and Cheese

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The other day I tried to find some Hot Pockets Philly style steak and cheese at the grocery store, but they were all out. So I ended up buying the Lean Cuisine Panini Philly Steak and Cheese instead. I tucked it into the freezer, and there it sat. Tonight was the night I decided to try it out. I cooked it and shared it with my son. Our verdict – buy it again! It was good!  I’m afraid that the peppers and onions will give me heartburn, but I have Rolaids ready to spring into action if needed!

Entering the stock market

Friday, July 24th, 2009

It wasn’t very long ago (alright, maybe it WAS long ago) that I was taking courses in college where we were learning about how less than 2% of the American people own stock!  I was amazed to learn that – I thought everyone owned at least a little bit of stock.  But apparently, the majority of the Americans are too poor to have any money to invest in Stock Trading.

I think that’s very sad.  I’m hoping that the advances being made in the access to buying stocks through Online Trading and getting an Online Broker just might help to change that type of situation.  These online services are making it less expensive to enter into the process of buying stock.  One of the advantages to using an online service like this is that you don’t feel the same kind of pressure you would feel from a face-to-face broker.  I can remember before the Internet was even invented that when I wanted to buy some stock in Disney that the broker made me feel like a total idiot!  Well, I bought stock anyway, and it has done well over the years.  So don’t feel intimidated, if you have a few dollars to invest, go ahead and do it!
