Too much sleep

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Do you ever get too much sleep?  I don’t do it very often, but I did this morning!  I woke up at 4:45 am and looked at the clock.  I felt pretty wide awake but didn’t want to get up that early, so I rolled over and went back to sleep.  The next thing I knew it was 8:30!  I had a stiff neck and a caffeine withdrawal headache too!  I’ve been up for a while now and had my tea, breakfast and headache pills but the stiff neck and headache are still right there.  Geez, I hate when that happens!  I’ve got to try to remember to not do that again!

Nutrition on the go

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

I can remember when I was younger my in-laws were always trying to get me to buy their natural vitamins and protein bars.  Every time I turned around they were putting instant protein and other food supplements in our food.  When I was pregnant they tried to get me to take their natural pre-natal vitamins.  That was the one and only time that I actually got sick during my pregnancy!  Their stuff was just plain nasty!

Since then, however protein and power bars have evolved a long way.  Most of them taste pretty good!  And I have to admit that if I know that I am going to be running errands all day long and won’t have the chance to sit down and enjoy a nice meal, then grabbing a meal replacement bar is a good alternative to going through a fast food restaurant’s drive through!

Things to do

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

My hubby had not done a good job of figuring out what to do to entertain CiCi while she is here.  That rather surprised me, since CiCi is his daughter!  So now, here we are, the very first morning of her visit and they are asking me about what they can/should see and do today!  If I had known ahead of time that I was supposed to be the entertainment coordinator I would have taken the time to do a local search of things to do to keep them entertained and out of trouble!

Fortunately it isn’t too hard to find information about things like local restaurants using online local yellowpages resources.  The hard part is knowing what keywords to type in to find the results you want!  So now it seems that I’ve been put on the spot and have to come up with some ideas to keep them busy and happy!  Wish me luck!  I’m going to need it!  Off the top of my head I can’t think of very many things that everyone would enjoy doing together!

Delayed flights

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Last night my hubby and I had to go to the airport to pick up CiCi.  One of the things that is aggravating about having to go to the airport is that we live so far away from the airport that we usually have to leave the house before the planes take off from the departure location, so we can’t confirm that the flight is on time or not before we leave.  Well, this time CiCi actually managed to call us as we were leaving the house, telling us that she was on the tarmac!  So we hustled out the door.  When we got to the airport, the big sign that the airport uses to let people know arrival information showed that her flight was delayed, but it didn’t say what a new arrival time was going to be.

So what should have been only a few minutes wait actually ended up being a two hour wait.  That stupid arrival board never did update the information to show that the plane had taken off or a new arrival time!  Very aggravating!  But eventually CiCi’s plane arrived, and we brought her home, safe and sound.  Looking forward to spending some quality time visiting with her!

Christmas cards

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I keep almost all of the Christmas cards that I get every year.  I like to re-purpose them for use as name tags, or using them as craft supplies.  I find that I like the personalized christmas cards the best for these types of uses; they tend to be a higher quality of paper than the ones that you can buy at the local discount store for just a couple of dollars for a whole bunch of them.

When sending out cards I like to start on them early so that they are out in the mail around Thanksgiving time.  If I get them all out by then I can relax and enjoy the Holiday season without the pressure of getting the cards mailed out.  It also helps to put me in the Holiday spirit, getting them purchased and ready to mail early!
