Ever since we moved into the house I’ve been wanting to add some kind of stemware rack to safely store my stemmed glassware.  I have quite a few really nice stemware pieces that I have hidden around the kitchen, tucked into nooks and crannies because there really isn’t a central location to store them.  But one of my biggest concerns about having something like a hanging wine glass rack is the fact that having the glasses exposed out on display is going to ultimately end up in me having to dust more often.  And believe me, I do NOT like to dust!

So I would like to find some glass racks to store the stemware in such that I would not be concerned about them getting dusty.  Maybe getting a rack that hangs onto the underside of the shelf inside the kitchen cabinet would be a good choice for me.  I’ve found one that looks like it would work perfectly online at the glassstemwareracks.com website, and it holds from six to nine pieces of stemware.  I think I’ll bookmark that site and show it to my hubby and tell him that would be a good item to put on our “wish list” of things to get.

I’m happy to say that the bread machine works! The bread cooked perfectly. However, the mix we used was a store bought mix and it came out tasting quite bitter. I don’t know if that is the way that particular bread is supposed to taste, or if it is a result of the mix being stale. So now I’ve been looking up bread machine recipes on the Internet and plan to have a good time baking bread! This is going to be fun! 

I wish that they made bread machines that made multiple loaves of bread!  That way I could bake a couple of loaves fresh for large family dinners.  These small “two pound loaves” are really quite small!

My mother-in-law is in her eighties now.  She is an independent woman, and does not want to acknowledge that she really should be living in a nursing home or an assisted living home.  She doesn’t drive a car, thank goodness; she never has.  So at least we don’t worry about her being out on the road!  But she DOES fall down frequently and hurts herself.  And we don’t find out about it until quite a bit later; sometimes days later!

I have been trying to convince my hubby’s family to sign her up for a Life Alert service.  The Life Alert service that I want her to have provides a very thorough service that actually has a fall detection, so if she falls down and can’t push a button for help, the fall detection calls for help anyway.  In addition, the Life Alert has a motion detector on it so if she doesn’t move for long stretches of time, the system calls for help then, too!  I think that is a great service to have, and I think that the entire family would feel a lot more secure about her safety if we signed her up for that!

Several years ago I gave away my electric bread machine.  I gave it away because it did not have a window in it for me to be able to tell if the bread was rising and cooking correctly, and there were several times where the bread did NOT rise and cook correctly and by the time I found out (at dinner time) it was too late to make a back-up plan and have a nice dinner.

A few weeks ago I saw a bread machine in a local thrift store for sale for $10.  It had a window in it, so I decided to take my chances and buy it.  Well, today is the day I am trying it out.  In about three hours I will know if the machine works well or not.  But in the meantime, I can peek in the window to see how it’s doing, and I like that option.  I hope it works!  I’ll admit that I’m afraid that it won’t work because it was in a thrift store!
