Numbering houses
I can remember a few years ago when the town notified everyone that lived there, whether in town or in rural areas that we all needed to put an address plaque or at least numbers on our house in such a way that rescue and fire departments could locate the house in case of an emergency. That campaign to get address signs for homes was due to the switch-over to the new 911 system.
I had a very difficult time getting my mother-in-law to comply with the new regulation for the system. She had her numbers on the rural mailbox across the street and she was adamant that was all she needed! I kept trying to explain that the town was requiring address plaques to actually be ON the house itself, so that the rescue people could find her house, not her mailbox! So wouldn’t you know she put her address on the BACK door of her house, where no body could see it at all?
Now I know where my hubby gets his stubborness from!
