Finding cheap auto insurance

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

When a young adult gets their first car, they often look for cheap auto insurance.  Let’s face it, they’ve just invested a huge chunk of their budget for the first time in their wheels, and it is no easy task fitting in all of the expenses of a car!  The maintenance and gasoline is enough to scare anyone!  So buying cheap auto insurance is a top priority for them!  Many older consumers find that bundling auto insurance with their home-owner’s insurance is a good way to save money on both types of insurance, but the younger adults often don’t have the need for home-owner’s insurance yet!

One of the scary things about getting auto insurance is not really knowing how much insurance you need to get.  You don’t want to pay for more coverage than you need, but then again you don’t want to be under-insured either.  If you are involved in a car accident you really do need to be able to get your car fixed or replaced without it causing an undue hardship.  And with medical costs as high as they are, you need to get plenty of liability and under-insured motorist coverage as well!  You don’t want to end up on the injured list and have no way to pay for the medical bills that will wrack up quicker than you can say “lickity split!”

I was using a website search engine today to help my nephew find auto insurance for his new car, and found an easy one to use at the cheap-autoinsurance.com website.  That site was easy to use; we started out typing in the zip code of the town where my nephew lives and it took us to a page that showed several insurance providers that are known to give good prices for that town.  Then it gave us the option to apply on line for free and instant insurance quotes.  I like sites like that!

Got my MP3 player

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Well, I was starting to wonder if my MP3 player was ever going to arrive! It certainly had been plenty of time to arrive! Then it dawned on me to look on the front porch to see if perhaps it was delivered and simply left on the porch without me hearing the doorbell ring. Yup, there it was! I was so excited! I brought it into the house and ripped the package open just like it was Christmas! Reading the instructions was pretty confusing, I have to admit it. And the claim that the touch pads only required a “light touch” – well, that just isn’t true! I have to touch and touch and touch harder and harder. I wonder if I got a defective one? And the volume of the thing is pretty puny; I have turned the volume up as loud as it will go and it just doesn’t seem to perform as loud as I had hoped. I wonder if that is a defect as well! And loading songs onto it was a pain in the neck! I hope it gets easier with use!

A contest to win a vacation

Friday, September 11th, 2009

My hubby’s boss has announced a competition at work where the winner of the competition wins a long weekend vacation all expenses paid at a Myrtle Beach Resort!  The competition is based on a combination of both productivity and safety results.  My hubby has always been in the top five of both of those categories, so we are both very excited about the contest.  There is actually a good chance that he will win because no other employee has ever been in the top ten of both lists at the same time!

So from what I understand, we will have a choice between a couple of different Myrtle Beach Resorts if my hubby wins the contest!  I’m going to have to check into the different Myrtle Beach Hotels and see which ones are the closest to the beach and the dinner shows.  I’m not particularly interested in playing golf, but I sure would love spending some time relaxing on the beach and going to some of the great shows or amusement parks that are in the area!

Entering the modern age

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I’ve been resisting entering the modern age. I admit it. I’m technologically challenged! I prefer cassette tapes to CDs, I prefer VHS tapes to DVDs. And I have resisted getting an IPOD or MP3 player like crazy. I like my old “Walkman” cassette player; it works great! I just pop in a cassette tape and press play and I get to listen to my favorite tape! But I have to admit that the IPODs and MP3 players are smaller, and therefore easier to transport. And I can store hundreds of songs on them and don’t have to lug around a bunch of tapes to swap in and out of them. So I have finally ordered an MP3 player.

I asked my kids for help in picking one out, and they basically told me that they are pretty much all alike, and to buy a “cheap one.” So I think I ordered one where I can pick the song from a menu (I hope!) and not just have to put up with a random shuffle. It is supposed to be arriving in the mail shortly; I’m anxiously waiting for it so I can check it out!  Who knows, maybe I can start to embrace the “modern age” after all!  Just don’t ask me to text message anyone on my cell phone!

Invited to a baby shower

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I received an invitation in the mail yesterday for Ruth’s daughter Lindsay.  So I have to call Ruth and ask what baby items Lindsay needed for her baby.  I love to shop for things like baby clothes and baby toys!  They are so cute and sweet!  Shopping for those things bring back fond memories of when my own kids were babies.  I’ve always loved babies; my idea of an ideal job would be to work in a hospital and a baby-rocker!

Unfortunately I’ve heard that the hospitals don’t hire baby-rockers, and won’t even take them as volunteers anymore!  I think that is so sad!  I think babies need to be held and rocked while their new mothers get some much needed rest before going home from the hospital!

The baby shower is in a few weeks, so I need to get started!  Although last weekend I saw the most adorable little shirts at a gift store that I would have bought in an instant if I realized that I needed a baby gift, so maybe my shopping time won’t be very time-consuming!
