Helping kids with math

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I can remember when I was in high school I had a math teacher that hated girls.  The first day of class he announced that he felt that girls did not belong in his class and that he was going to flunk every girl.  He told us all to drop the class immediately!  I went to the school administration and complained, and their response was for me to drop the class!  That was over thirty years ago and I still get angry thinking about that!

Since that time, I’m pretty sure that schools don’t allow that kind of person to teach!  And since that time, I think that teachers have learned that girls can be just as good as math as boys are!  And in this day and age, any student can get Math Help fairly easily with Online Tutoring if they have Internet access!  The Guaranteach website offers Algebra Help and Math help for a low monthly fee of under $10.  If I had a student that needed help with math, I would certainly do everything I could to get him (or her) that help!  Math is vitally important in today’s world.

Buying makeup

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I realized today that it has been three years since I’ve worn make-up! That is a really long time! My Red Hat ladies club has decided to get all gussied up and go out to eat at a fancy restaurant next month, and I decided that I’d like to wear some make-up to the dinner. Well, all of my old make-up is dried up and no good now, so this morning I went out to Rite-Aid and bought a lot of new make-up. They were having a BOGO sale on Maybelline products, and Rite Aid has a policy that if you make a mistake and don’t like the make-up, you can return it. So I figured, what have I got to lose? I bought a lot of stuff there; I hope I like it! But if I don’t like it, I know I can return it and get my money back! How cool is that!

I love jewelry

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I have to admit that I’m a jewelry junkie.  I love the sparkle and shine!  My hubby thinks I have way too much jewelry, but I disagree, of course!  There are some outfits that I wear that just don’t have the right jewelry to match in my jewelry box. I think that maybe one of the reasons that my hubby thinks that I have too much jewelry is the fact that I have kept every piece of jewelry I ever owned ever since I was a little girl.  I had hoped to have a daughter to give it to when she was going to play “dress up.”  Of course, that never happened; I only had sons!

But now I’m hoping that maybe someday I’ll have a young niece or some grand-daughters come along and play with my inexpensive jewelry some day.  And of course, I keep the older and broken pieces around just in case I need them for a craft project of some type!  It would be cute to decorate a miniature Christmas tree with the broken pieces!  When I look through my collection of jewelry, I see a lot of broken watches that I wish I had been able to use.  It seems that I am one of those strange people that can’t wear most watches – they stop running very quickly.  I used to think that I was over-winding them, but it even happens with the battery run watches!  Maybe I should buy a watch that comes on a necklace chain!

Feeling worse

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Well, I did go to the doctor yesterday, and he said that it doesn’t look like strep throat, but he gave me antibiotic to take that I’ve never heard of before.  It’s called Biaxin.  He told me to take it with food, but when I picked it up the directions on the bottle said to take it on an empty stomach if tolerated.  Well, last night I took it at supper-time, and went to bed shortly afterwards.  I was really tired!  This morning I forgot to take it until around 10am, and so I took it then on an empty stomach.  Here it is, about 30 minutes later and I’m feeling rather sick to my stomach!  I wish I’d eaten something first!  I just ate some toast, I hope that helps!
