Strange dog behavior

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Our oldest dog has decided that she doesn’t want to go out in the back yard through her doggie door if it is raining out.  We have an awning over the back porch so that she can go out onto the porch and not get wet, but she sticks her head out the doggie door and listens.  If she hears anything that sounds like rain, she will just back up into the house and refuse to go out there!  She’d much rather just find someplace in the house to relieve herself.  Naturally I’m not happy about that at all!

I did notice, however, that if we ask her if she wants to go out the “front door” she will run excitedly to the front door and wait to be chained onto the cable tie we have there and she will go happily outside into the front yard regardless of the weather!  Now I understand that the front yard is much more exciting than the back yard, but I think that is just a little bit unreasonable, don’t you?  And for some reason, my dog doesn’t seem to be open to rational reasoning!

So it seems that the solution to the problem is that on rainy days I will just have to let her out the front door on her cable tie!

Outlook problems

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I’ve always had trouble with Microsoft Outlook.  For some reason I can always read the incoming emails but I’ve never been able to send out emails.  So I’ve gotten frustrated after many attempts and just gave up.  I understand that it is a wonderful program that does a lot more than just emails, but I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about how computer viruses are often spread by using the contact list in Microsoft Outlook.  So I figured that it probably is just better if I don’t even use it.  I haven’t heard of any viruses striking the other email programs!

So security is a big deal now because so many hackers are out there trying to either make our computers crash (just out of meanness I guess!) and/or hackers that are trying to steal information from us that will help them to access our accounts and steal our identities.  This security problem has created a need for ways to beef up our security, and help us to restore/repair damaged files.

REMO software helps with situations like that.  The company has software that deals with PST Repair, permanently deleting (wiping clean) old files that need to be REALLY deleted.  I’m glad that we have these tools at our fingertips!

Altering some pants

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

For the past couple of weeks my hubby has been asking me to take up the hem on a couple of pairs of dress pants that he bought.  He draped them over the back of a chair in the media room and told me that he needed them altered; they were about three inches too long.  I kept telling him that I need him to put them on so that I can hem them up the right amount.  Almost every three days he would remind me that he wanted them taken up, and I’d tell him to put them on so I could pin them up.  It would go back and forth and he would fuss at me about it.  Well, finally, this morning he put them on so I could pin them in place.  I hope to hem them later today so that he will stop nagging me about them!
