An unpleasant phone call

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

When Gina sent her son Tim off to school last fall I’m sure that the furthest thing in her mind was that she would be needing a california criminal lawyer before the school year was up. Tim has always been a clean-cut, soft-spoken young man who has never been in trouble in his life. Until last week. Gina got the dreaded call “Mom, I’m in jail. I’m in trouble.”

Gina hasn’t filled me in on all of the details, but from what I understand Tim was the unwitting driver of a getaway car when some of his school chums decided to rob a convenience store. Exactly HOW someone can be the unwitting driver of a getaway car is beyond my understanding, but that is their story and they are sticking to it. So now Gina has to come up with the money to hire a los angeles criminal defense lawyer to keep Tim from going to prison.

I told Gina that I’d help her try to find cheap airfare for her to be able to fly out there if she decides that is what she wants to do, but I don’t know if she is going to be able to afford the airfare and a lawyer.

Somehow I suspect that when that is all over with that maybe Tim won’t be going to school out there anymore. It’s a real mess.

Seat belts

I think that seat belts save lives. I know a lot of people would disagree with me, and a lot of people hate them, but I have always thought seat belts were a very good safety tool that should be used. When the state passed the mandatory seat belt law, I thought that was a good idea, but was disappointed when they said that it would not be a primary law.

They could only ticket you for not wearing it if you were pulled over for another reason. Now they’ve changed that, they CAN pull you over simply for not wearing it and give you a ticket. I think that is a good thing, and I hope that gets more people to wear seat belts.

The groundhog says

Groundhog sees his shadow From what I understand the groundhog is calling for a late spring. I hope he is wrong, but I have to say that the winter has been much milder than usual this year, so if it stays this mild then I really won’t care about how late spring is. There have been fewer school cancellations because of winter weather this year so far, which I’m sure upsets the school children to no end. It has been a long time since school cancellations affected my family, but I can imagine the disappointment that a lot of kids would be sharing if they don’t get the chance to build at least one snow man or snow fort and have a good snowball fight!

Modern family

It is that time again folks, time to talk all about my immense love for Modern Family.  Of course this week that I am inspired to write about it they show a rerun, but that’s okay!  That is why we have directv whole home dvr DVR so we can record and delete on a whim.  We know that they need their down time to let their creative minds wander to come up with more and more crazy shenanigans for us to watch every week.  Phil and Claire Dunphy are for me the perfect couple.  They are a more realistic couple as compared with some that they show on tv these days.  I like how they fight and make up and then fight with their kids and then make up again.  They have problems and funny things happen just like any real family would.  I really could go without Sophia Vergara’s voice on this show because sometimes it really starts to get on my nerves but I think it does suit her character’s personality so at least that works for them.

The better to see you with my dear

Don’t you think that these $6.95 prescription eyeglasses from zennioptical.com are gorgeous? My sister is always telling me that her grandson is constantly losing his glasses and at least once a month she is buying him a new pair. Every time she tells me about it I remind her about the great purchase price on prescription eyeglasses from zennioptical.

Zenni sells eyeglasses for children and adults, safety glasses, sports glasses, and sunglasses, all for incredibly cheap prices. You may think that because the prices are so cheap that you are only getting the frames, but the low price includes the lenses – even progressive or bifocal. Buying the glasses are really easy to do; when you go to the eye doctor and he (or she) writes the prescription for you, ask the eye doctor to include the pupillary distance on the prescription. Ask the doctor if you need to have prism or not. If you do not need prism in the prescription, then you just need to pick out the pair you like, send in the order with the prescription and before you know it you will have a brand new fashion-forward pair of prescription eyeglasses. The prices are so low that you would be really smart to buy a spare pair or two to keep in case you lose or break a pair.
