All the snow in Moscow

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I was reading an article on the Yahoo news that the mayor of Moscow is planning to make sure that the big snow storms that plague Moscow in the winter dump all of Moscow’s snow on the outlying suburbs. He plans to do that by having their air force seed the approaching storm clouds so that they dump their snow before they can reach the city. Although it sounds like a good plan (for the city of Moscow!) I can only imagine how terrible that would be for the suburbs of Moscow – they would get all of their own snow, and all of Moscow’s snow too! They will be buried!

I’m glad I don’t live in a suburb of Moscow!

Tragedy at VTech

Friday, August 28th, 2009

When I got up this morning I heard the very sad news that two Virginia Tech students were murdered yesterday. They were murdered off campus; both of them shot. They were together at the time. That is such very sad news. I heard that there are no suspects at this time. I hope that people come forward with information that helps the police track down who killed them and haul them off to jail for the rest of their lives! My sincere sympathies to the friends and families of these two kids. I have a kid in college myself, and I can only imagine the devastation I would feel if something bad happened to him!

Oh puleeze!

I was reading an article on a friend’s blog about an article she read on Time.com’s website that the PETA organization wrote a letter to Ben & Jerry’s telling them that they should stop using milk from cows to make their ice cream, and instead use human breast milk to make their ice cream! Knowing that you can get gallons of milk from a cow in only a few minutes of milking, and knowing that you can only get about four ounces of milk from a human in about twenty minutes, the feasibility of the logistics of such an endeavor is really absurd! I’ve been to a dairy farm and watched the cows get milked with the milk machines, and there is nothing cruel about milking a cow! I think someone has a little bit too much time on their hands!

How green is it really?

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

I was reading an article in The Washington Times newspaper today about how a lot of companies that claim to be “green” are not actually “green.” It was a very informative article, but very disturbing too. I get very disturbed when I learn how so many unscrupulous companies are trying to jump on the bandwagon of saying they are green when they are not. I don’t like being deceived – not one bit! So I am going to be more vigilant in finding out what products I buy are really “green” or not. And if I find out that they are claiming to be “green” when they are not I plan to write some letters of complaint.
